    FEATURE - Luxus-Motorhome mit Garage

Want to win the staycation battle? This newly unveiled ultra-motorhome not only offers sheer luxury interiors – but offers room to store a supercar within.

The new-generation Vario Perfect 1200 Platinum has been launched at the 2020 Düsseldorf Caravan Salon this month (Sept).

At £812,000 for the basic model – German company VARIOmobil tell Cover Images press agency that serious buyers could be looking at £1.3m to kit their dreamy vacation ride out in style.

The company describe the 100 % custom-made vehicle as an “exclusive comfort mobile”, offering 2-4 beds in three pneumatically sealed living-area slide outs and “individual freedom of planning”.

The XXL internal car garage is recommended for a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT or a Porsche 911, and comes with automatic retraction on a cantilever car platform.

The 26-tonne vehicle, measuring 39 full feet (12 m), includes a state-of-the-art "cubeART" kitchen area and a spacious bathroom.

Other technical highlights include 530 hp motoring, a “lifestyle sound system”, multimedia entertainment options and a self-locking 'eGLIDE' sliding door system in the luxurious bedroom.

VARIOmobil say the Platinum is in “a class of its own, especially when it comes to quality.”

FEATURE - Ein Ferrari, der vermutlich dem Rocker Iggy Pop gehört haben soll, steht zum Verkauf

A Ferrari believed to have been owned by rocker Iggy Pop is up for sale.

The rare Chiaro Blue 1984 Ferrari 308 GTS QV was thought to have been driven by the former Stooges frontman between 1998 and 2002.

Paperwork indicates that it was bought by ‘The Godfather of Punk’, real name James Newell Osterberg Jr., shortly after he moved to Miami.

Iggy mentioned the car in a later interview with GQ mag: "It was a wonderful car. Whenever I wanted to blow off steam, I'd just race around the freeways here. Whatever you did, it instantly did, whereas the newer ones they have the computer to help you. I drove the shit outta that car. Then I thought something terrible’s gonna happen, so I got rid of it.”

UK auction company H&H Classics will offer the vehicle as part of their September 16th live auction online, with an estimate of £20,000 to £30,000.

Passing through the hands of fellow Floridians Earl Sistrunk and Kostas Dino Linardakis thereafter, the latter took to ferrarichat.com on October 29th 2017 to confirm the 308’s provenance:

"It was indeed owned by Iggy Pop (James Osterberg Jr). My mechanic in Ft Lauderdale (Tim Stanford Foreign Cars – the best Ferrari mechanic around) used to service the car when Iggy owned it, and then it was brought to Naples, where I purchased it from the third owner. It came back to the Ft Lauderdale area where I live, and when Tim saw the car he instantly recalled it and told me of its past.”

Damian Jones of H&H Classics says: “A decidedly inexpensive entry to Ferrari ownership with a fascinating back story. What’s not to love especially if you have a ‘Lust for Life’?”

FEATURE - Wie aus "Mad Max": SkateKart von Canoo

It looks like it belongs in a Mad Max movie, but this skateboard e-chassis could be the future of passenger vehicles.

Los Angeles company Canoo Holdings Ltd., has been developing breakthrough electric vehicles (EV) with a proprietary and highly versatile skateboard chassis for personal and business use.

The eye-catching chassis is designed to underpin a range of body styles, including a van and a so-called Canoo pod. But the firm have now shown off the amazing performance of a cabin-less “skatekart”.

For this , Canoo employed professional racing driver, Sara Price, to test the performance of the platform, which will serve as the backbone of all Canoo vehicles.

“I was blown away by how fun it was to drive,” said Price. “The overall performance was impressive. The skateboard felt powerful, with smooth and dynamic handling, especially during high speed cornering. The drive-by-wire steering was something new for me and it felt like it was built for the track.”

Unlike other platforms on the market, Canoo’s skateboard is uniquely modular, offering a truly self-contained, fully functional rolling chassis, so much so that it can be driven entirely independently. The skateboard architecture directly houses all of the most critical components of an electric vehicle, including its industry leading steer-by-wire platform, a transverse composite leaf spring suspension system, an advanced fully electric drivetrain, a proprietary battery compartment and battery thermal management systems, power electronics, vehicle controls, crash absorption structures and autonomous driving components, among others. Each of these component systems has been engineered for optimal performance and efficient packaging into Canoo’s compact platform, with a strong emphasis given to functional integration.

“We wanted to showcase our skateboard’s performance and prove that our rolling chassis is a truly self-contained unit with everything needed to drive built inside,

FEATURE - Neuer Bugatti Centodieci mit 1600 PS

Bugatti has paid homage to its one of its most popular cars from the 1990s with a run of 10 ‘one-off’ tributes.

The Centodieci, which was unveiled at Pebble Beach, California, is the most powerful Bugatti yet and boasts a whopping 1,600 horsepower.

But what makes it stand out the most is that its designers aimed to bring the classic EB110 into the modern era.

The EB110 is a mid-engine supercar that debuted in 1991. According to Top Gear, it was built in Mondena by Romano Artioli. Powered by a 550bhp, 3.5-litre quad-turbo V12, with a carbon fibre chassis, it was a vehicle ahead of its time.

The Centodieci, which means 110 in Italian, has been created to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the company’s founding.

While the latest masterpiece from the now VW-owned manufacturer is clearly based on a Chiron, it has intricate details that pay homage to the 90s. It’s got a low-dropping front just like the EB110 along with a deep-seated front spoiler.

The 8.0-litre W16 engine can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 2.4 seconds and Bugatti says the car’s top speed has been limited to 236mph.

Bugatti head designer Achim Anscheidt said in a statement: "We faced a number of technical challenges in terms of the development and design of the Centodieci… The EB110 is a very flat, wedge-shaped and graphically quasi two-dimensional super sports car of the late 1980s. Transporting this classic look into the new millennium without copying it was technically complex, to say the least.'

"We had to create a new way of combining the complex aerothermal requirements of the underlying Chiron technology with a completely different aesthetic appearance."

Bugatti have reportedly sold all 10 models of the Centodieci priced at £9 million each.
