I CAN'T BEAR YOUR INCESSANT WHINING! This mischievous bear cub shouts in the ear of its unimpressed mother as the pair appear to have a disagreement. The funny moment was spotted by Linda Lester near the Silver Salmon Creek lodge in the Lake Clark National Park, Alaska, USA.
The 64 year old said, “After the mother and cub had been grazing the little one wanted to be nursed. The cubs will whine until their mother stops but she didn’t stop which is why the cub was acting this way. This cub was only six months old and clearly just wanted to be close to its mum.”

'We just want the truth': British coastal towns fight for answers over mystery sealife deaths
Question mark over freeport in Tees Valley after ecological disaster puts communities in the north east of England at loggerheads with the government.
The mystery of what caused the deaths has thrust small coastal communities in the north-east of England, into the centre of a national political drama.
The Environment Agency, part of Defra, promised to investigate, pledging to send samples of water, sediment and crab for analysis, which they said would examine the theory that pollution was to blame. Then in February this year, the official answer came. Concerns that dredging work in September had disturbed toxic sediment in the River Tees were dismissed because there was "no evidence of a link" between that and the die-offs, Defra's report said. Instead, it concluded, the most likely factor was a "naturally occurring harmful algal bloom".

A woman takes a nap in the seaside town of Whitby in North Yorkshire in Northern England. local fisherman and the community have suffered in the past year with large numbers deaths of crabs and lobsters which have been washed up all along the North East and North Yorkshire coastline. Fishing crews have noticed sparse catches and massive decline in their catches which have been “catastrophic” to their livelihoods. A recent investigation by the Environment Agency has identified a harmful algal bloom being of significance however local fisherman dispute this and suspect that licensed dredging and chemical contamination related to offshore windfarms are to blame.

A year in the life of an otter family, Singapore - 2017
*Full story: https://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/tu8d
British photographer Tim Plowden lives in a wild corner of Singapore that is also called home by a family of smooth-coated otters. The photographer has been keeping track of the adorable animals throughout 2017 as they have successfully raised a clutch six cubs. Their territory stretches along several miles of coastline, a network of mangrove rivers as well as urbanised sections of river and parkland. And Tim isn't the only person to be enchanted by the furry family with many locals having also taken them to heart. Tim comments: ?The playfulness of the cubs is enchanting and I love how strong their family bonds are. They always look out for each other and if they are apart for any length of time they greet each other with such exuberance it makes you appreciate just how close their family ties really are".

REPORTAGE - Mexiko: Leben mit dem Prader-Willi Syndrome
Citlalli takes a nap at her home in Mexico City, Mexico on March 29, 2017. Delia Citlalli Pineda Corzo, a 21-year-old Mexican girl, lives with her 42-year-old mother Diana Cristina Corzo Zárate in a two-room apartment in Mexico City. She was diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome at age four. At age 15, doctors detected that she had diabetes. Citlalli weighs 106 kilos (233.6 pounds) and stands 150 centimeters (4 feet 11 inches). She has a BMI of 50.5, making her morbidly obese. She also suffers from sleep apnea. Citlalli lacks the faculty of speech and cannot read, but her mother says they have developed their own form of communication. Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) is a rare genetic disorder caused by an abnormality in chromosome 15. In newborns symptoms include weak muscle tone (hypotonia), poor appetite and slow development. In childhood the person experiences a sensation of constant hunger no matter how much he/she eats which often leads to obesity and Type 2 diabetes. There may also be mild to moderate intellectual impairment and behavioral problems. Physical characteristics include a narrow forehead, small hands and feet, short in stature, and light skin color. Prader-Willi syndrome has no known cure. However, with early diagnosis and treatment such as growth hormone therapy, the condition may improve. Strict food supervision is typically required. PWS affects an estimated 1 in 10,000 to 30,000 people worldwide. (Photo by Bénédicte Desrus/Sipa USA) *** Local Caption *** 21272469

A British woman rendered housebound by dibilatating illness has found new confidence - thanks to a raccoon.
Kasey Valentine, 24, from Stevenage, adopted Cody from someone who wasn't sure how to look after him.

Since then, the two have become inseparable and the small mammal has given a focus needed to leave her house.
Kasey explains: "I have both M.E. and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which is a rare connective tissue disorder. It means I have constant pain and my joints dislocate a lot, as well as leaving me prone to bruising and other issues
"I never really left the house before due to anxiety as I find it hard to walk too far without feeling pains and exhausted and now I make sure I go out every single day, in order for both me and Cody to get adequate exercise."

A worker is taking a nap in the brickfield
Brick Yard workers, Bangladesh - 27 Dec 2015
The world is going through a speedy urbanization and Bangladesh is not an exception from this. Such rapid urbanization generates a massive demand for bricks as it is one of the key ingredients to build concrete structure. To meet this growing need, numbers of brick making field have been increasing at an alarming rate in Bangladesh. Most of them took place in farming lands which causes reduction of agricultural production.Workers work here from dawn to dusk still their wage is not up to the minimum standard. Beside this the working condition is so dusty that one cannot breathe properly without mask. Sometimes even musk is not enough to protect your lungs. Hence, many workers might end up having respiratory diseases after some years

Photographer Valerio Berdini spent days walking the streets of Lisbon, trying to put into pictures the most peculiar of Portuguese feelings: 'Saudade'.
Saudade is a Portuguese word that has no direct translation in English.
It describes a deep emotional state of nostalgic or profound melancholic longing for an absent something or someone that one loves. Moreover, it often carries a repressed knowledge that the object of longing may never return.

You can't sea me!
A sea otter dozes happily - disguised as a lump of seaweed.
Wildlife photographer Michael Yang had spent the day haplessly searching for otters in Monterey, California, before his wife pointed out a suspicious floating pile of kelp.
His amazing pictures show the marine mammal seemingly hiding from the world in order to get some peaceful sleep.
And, hilariously, the otter unwrapped itself for a good shake of its fur before rewrapping itself in kelp and once again nodding off.
Michael says: "The sea otter was well camouflaged. Despite being right next to a walk path, most people walked right by without even noticing the dozing otter. Sea otters sometimes wrap themselves up in kelp so they won't float off while they are sleeping. This sea otter took it one step further and covered its face with the kelp like an eye mask."

Japan's spectacular cherry blossom, Japan - 14 Mar 2013

Photographer Valerio Berdini captured Japan's spectacular cherry blossom in all its glory.
The photos, taken in 2013, have been released ahead of the upcoming spring blossom, which begins each year at the end of March.
Valerio said: "Each year, thousands of people fill the parks to hold feasts under the flowering trees, and sometimes these parties go on until late at night. In Japan, cherry blossoms symbolise 'clouds'. Due to their nature of blooming en masse, besides being an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life. The transience of the blossoms, the extreme beauty and quick death, has often been associated with mortality."
