Members of the Irish band U2 hold the after party for the second of their four sold out shows; held last night at O'Donoghues pub on Merrion Row in Dublin, Ireland.

The party went on until 5am - the last guest to leave was Shane MacGowan, who was in a wheelchair. The musician is still recovering from breaking his pelvis earlier this year and it was his first night out since the accident.

Shane appeared to have a full set of teeth for a change!
He was holding a glass and had white marks on his black t-shirt.

His single "Fairytale Of New York" is a favourite on the airwaves at Christmas time.

Red Squirrels in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland - 10 Nov 2015
Wildlife photographer Drew Buckley captured these cute and characterful 'wee Reds' on a recent trip north to Scotland. Red Squirrels are native to our British woodland and Scotland's Caledonia forest is one of their last strongholds. For the past 50 years the red squirrel population has been decimated by its cousin the grey squirrel. Once numbering in their millions, today there are believed to be just 120,000 left in the UK - though recent research has suggested that they are starting to stage a comeback. Venturing into their territory, Drew was able capture the species preparing themselves for the winter. Blending in with the autumnal scenes around them, these busy squirrels are seen foraging for food to help get them through the cold months.

Annual RSPB rescue mission to save gannets trapped by plastic waste on Grassholm Island, Pembrokeshire, Britain - 14 Oct 2015
    *Full story: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/ruit
The Pembrokeshire Island of Grassholm is of vital importance to the gannets that swarm there each year to lay their eggs, but their visit throws up a whole host of dangers thanks to the estimated 18 tonnes of plastic waste that litters the island. Each year in October RSPB wardens travel to the island to free the score of birds who became entangled - sometimes fatally - in this rubbish. Wildlife photographer Drew Buckley accompanied a team of volunteers and researchers from Exeter University, along with RSPB wardens Greg and Lisa, on the most recent rescue mission and was shocked by what he saw. Grassholm serves as a breeding site for nearly 40,000 pairs gannets; it is the third largest Atlantic Gannet colony in the world and supports around 10 percent of the world population.

Cat and mouse play together, Ireland - 27 Sep 2015
    FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/r6cp

A photographer has captured a series of adorable images of a cat and mouse playing together last weekend (27 September 2015).

Irish photographer Paul Mealey was shocked to see his rescue cat, Lala, playing with a mouse - and not trying to kill it.

The two-year-old cat seemed to have 'missed the memo' and forgotten that a cat and mouse are supposed to be enemies.

In the images Lala can be seen lovingly playing with the mouse in the garden, at Paul's home in Westport Co Mayo.

Paul said: "I'm a professional photographer and I was coming home after a job - hence I had my camera ready with a telephoto lens on - when the cat appeared with the mouse.

An artist has turned peanuts into amazing celebrity caricatures and animals by using 'nut art'.

Ohio-based artist Steve Casino paints 'insanely' tiny portraits on peanuts.

In the photos famous peanuts can be seen, including a Breaking Bad inspired Walter White peanut, a Taylor Swift peanut and an Iron Man peanut.

Meanwhile, other photos show cleverly painted peanut dogs, pieces of sushi and hotdogs.

A designer has created a collection of extravagant pieces of facial jewellery.

Akiko Shinzato, 29, created the project 'Another Skin' while studying jewellery design at Central Saint Martins in London.

The collection was inspired by the world's growing obsession with plastic surgery and the desire to change facial features.

The pieces are made from gold-plated wires, which attach to the head.

The jewellery can cover eyes and noses, and transform the appearance of the wearers face.

Great White Sharks hunting Cape Fur Seals off Seal Island, False Bay, Cape Town, South Africa - 03 Aug 2014
The dense population of Cape fur seals at this time of year attracts the seal's main predator, the Great White Shark. Seal Island and the adjacent waters provide rare opportunities for those who wish to witness attacks by White Sharks on the Cape Fur Seal and to observe social interactions amongst creatures of both species. The island is well known for the way the sharks grab their prey: a shark launching an attack will come up from underneath and hurl itself out of the water with the seal in its mouth. It has been shown that if the seals enter the "Ring of Death" (where the sharks circle the island) on the surface instead of at the murky bottom, they are more likely to be picked off by the faster and more aggressive Great White.

PETA Reveals Universities Experiments On Cats
PETA has exposed that several universities have experimented on cats and kittens.

Cats have had their skulls broken, electrodes attached to their brains, ribs and spines and been left paralysed as a result of experiments carried out at univerisites across the world.

PETA reported that some of the universities involved included University College London (UCL), University of Wisconsin and Cardiff University.

The experiments are said to have been performed so that scientists at the universities could discover more about the human body.

PETA revealed that the cats endured a variety of experiments, including having their eyes stitched shut so that scientists could analyse the causes of a lazy eye.

The animal charity also stated that scientists collapsed the cats lungs, while other cats were injected with paralysing drugs to prevent them from being able to move and breathe.

Most of the cats and kittens were killed following the experiments.

PETA spokesperson, Ben Williamson, said: "Experimenting on cats and dogs who would normally share our homes can never be justified, and we fully support the proposed ban that would end their use in laboratories.

"The development of cutting-edge, non-animal methodologies that accurately predict what will happen in human beings is exciting and progressive, and unless University College London wishes to be at the bottom of the class, it should embrace today's humane research breakthroughs. Its students, researchers and teachers would benefit from modernisation, and animals would not have to endure traumatic and fatal experiments."

PETA revealed that experiments at Cardiff University showed that kittens were raised in darkness or had their eyelids sewn shut, and were then subjected to brain experiments and killed.

Catch: Hilarious Photos Show Dogs Catching Treats
These hilarious photos show doggies doing what they do best - playing catch.

Photographer Aki Yamaguchi wanted to capture the funny poses her two dogs made when trying to snag a treat.

Retired search and rescue dogs Cooper, a 10-year-old Labrador, and Border Collie Jazzy, 10, were snapped trying to catch items ranging from pieces from cucumber to bubbles.

The dogs are captured frozen in expectation as they try and catch the treat; eyes wide and mouth wide open. One hilarious image sees Jazzy waiting to catch a treat with an improbably long tongue hanging out.

Texas-based Aki, a dog trainer and artist, explains: "I'm always looking for new ideas and ways to capture creative images. When my dogs catch anything, they make the most intense and focused faces.

"I started taking pictures of my Border Collie while she caught pieces of kibbles. I could not stop laughing when I saw a series of her most expressive faces.

"I posted my first catchakibbleface on Instagram back in April, followed by other versions of catchseries; bubbles, balls, treats, fruits, and the most recent veggie version.

Aki has some advice for those wanting to shoot similar images: "You have to take the pictures in a well-lit area or outside otherwise pictures will turn out blurry because of the movement. Play around with the timing. If you press the shutter early, you'll get more intense pictures, if you press it right when they catch the item, you'll get good action shot. If you press it a little late, you sometimes get funny outtakes like your dog missing the treat and looking disappointed. Make sure you moderate the amount of food you use. I practiced the timing with small kibbles first."
