Two huge hippopotamus fight for dominance in a territorial battle in the Chobe River, Botswana
Professional wildlife photographer Janine Krayer said “You can hear the hippos fighting from many kilometres away and when two hippos collide it can shake the ground. They were in such a serious battle that they don’t notice anything around them so they didn’t mind our presence. “
The 34 year old said “Hippos are extremely territorial, one male will be the head of one so pod and he will not allow any other dominant males in that territory, luckily both survived as one chased the other into the water shortly after”

Hippo-plant-amus.... This hippo appears to be in camouflage gear, using freshwater plants draped over him, as he prowls around its habitat. The photos were taken by photographer Janine Krayer on the Chobe River in Botswana.
She said, “After months of rain, this area floods allowing the hippos to live in a lush green environment. When we spotted this hippo it was walking on land to change ponds. I loved seeing him all dressed up….it just drapes perfectly over him."

Hornbill with a stinging TAIL to tell as it swallows a scorpion whole by Annette Marino
A bird with a stinging TAIL to tell as it swallows a scorpion whole. The Bradfield's hornbill was spotted at the top of a tree in the Nxai Pan National Park, Kalahari Desert, Botswana.
Retired, 68 year old, Annette Marino said, "It was a nice surprise that the hornbill didn't fly off when our driver stopped the jeep, allowing me to witness this. It had already caught it when we spotted it in the tree. The hornbill was struggling to get the scorpion into its mouth, but after adjusting it in its beak, it successfully swallowed it. After that, it flew off from the perch, happy with its breakfast." (FOTO: DUKAS/SOLENT NEWS)
