January 15, 2019 - Varna, Bulgaria - 76 years old Jelka, from the Bulgarian village of Kichevo, which is located some 10 km from Varna and 450 km East the capital of Sofia, opened the door to her home to many homeless animals from different species. She takes care for the animals like if they were children and says they give her hope and make her days brighter. The latest members of her family are two little pigs, who now happily eat, sleep and play in her living room. The more interesting part is they have interesting names: Boiko Borisov, like the name of the Bulgarian Prime Minister and Maya Manolova, like Bulgaria’s Ombudsman. A sweet dog named after the Bulgarian President, Rumen Radev lives in her yard. In old days bulgarians believed that if they name their children or farm animals after important people, they will have the same faith as them and will be happy, strong and fortunate.
