Convenience store chain 7-Eleven is selling a super-long roll of toilet paper — measuring just over a third of a kilometre when stretched out.
But because it is only single ply it is not much wider when coiled in a packaging than the firm’s regular version.
The company boasts that the new roll, at 356 metres, is 7.11 times longer than a standard roll.
It also does away with a cardboard inner making it eco-friendly.
The rolls are being made for 7-Eleven by Japanese company Marutomi Seishi.
It produced the country’s previously longest roll of toilet paper, the Super Long Pulp 6x Roll which was 300 metres.
Marutomi boasts it can create rolls several times longer than conventional toilet paper while maintaining a diameter that’s only slightly wider.
The product was developed based on a survey that suggests one in three married couples were dissatisfied with their toilet paper.
Because there is no cardboard tube inside it is said to allow for easy storage in disaster preparedness kits in earthquake regions and replaces the bulk buy suitcase-sized packs.
It sells in Japan for 298 yen which is just under €2 euros.
OPS: The 356 metre-long 7-Eleven toilet paper roll. is said to be a perfect addition to an earthquake disaster kit
