Wearable Mobile With GPS Helps Keep Kids Safe
A watch that allows parents to track and talk to their children has been created.

As technology advances, the age of children with mobile phones is getting younger and younger.

Most parents give in to their children's requests for the latest smartphone as a mobile phone means they can keep in contact and check that they are safe.

Tinitell is a wearable phone and GPS tracker designed to be worn by children. The innovative idea aims to allow children to play freely without compromising their safety.

Founder and CEO of Tinitell, Mats Horn, came up with idea in 2012 while hanging out with a friend who is also a father.

Since coming up with the idea in 2013, Tinitell was founded as an official company in 2013 and is live on Kickstarter. The campaign has already received $49,538 which is just under half of the funding required.

Tinitell might just be the smallest commercial mobile phone on the market today, and you can operate it through the click of a button or via voice recognition.

The more advanced features can be operated through the accompanying Tinitell smartphone app that parents have, they can also use the app to geo-locate their children.

The Stockholm-based creator says: "His son wanted to go outside and play, but he didn't have a cell phone. He had lost a cell phone once before, and we didn't feel like lending out our smartphones.

"Worst of all, we couldn't join him outside because we were busy cooking dinner. His son ended up playing in his room with his iPad, and I thought that was sad."

This led Horn to think that there should be a simple mobile phone created for children.

"Nothing advanced, just a nicely designed speaker and microphone to handle quick 'hellos' and 'come here' signals."

    Horn saw ...

Typhoon Bopha heading toward the Philippines - 02 Dec 2012
Super Typhoon Bopha made landfall in the southern Philippines early Tuesday.

Super Typhoon Bopha has estimated wind speeds around 160 miles per hour with gusts over 195 miles per hour or roughly 170 knots.

The equivalent to a category-five hurricane, the storm came ashore in the southern province of Davao at dawn, uprooting trees and blowing off roofs.

Residents in flood-prone areas were moving into shelters, ABC reported.

On Monday, Philippine President Benigno Aquino warned the public to take storm warnings seriously. "The potential destruction of this typhoon is no joke," Aquino said in a national television and radio address.

'Asphalt Renaissance': Kurt Wenner 3D Street Art Book
A new book details the amazing 3D street art of Kurt Wenner.

The artist has been impressing passer-by's for years and his latest drawings are the best yet.

The former NASA space illustrator turned street artist uses a piece of string to measure fixed points between the viewing location and painting to create three-dimensional drawings.

'Asphalt Renaissance' displays hundreds of images of Wenner's drawings spanning over his 25-year career. He started to write the book ten years ago when he realised there was nothing published about the art form.

Using his homemade pastels Wenner's most recent works bring Spiderman swinging from the buildings in Japan, a rainforest on London's South Bank and a scene from adventure horror film The Mummy film in Waterloo station.

Wenner's intricately detailed large-scale drawings can take up to seven days to complete sometimes longer depending on the weather.

Kurt explained: "The pieces look real because they are calculated to be perfectly and mathematically accurate. It's exactly how they would look if the objects in my paintings were actually there."

His favourite work is the 'Dies Irae' one of his earliest pieces that established the art form and has since become iconic on the internet.

The 52-year-old took up street painting in 1982 after he had given up his job at NASA and travelled to Rome to learn more about visual art.

He used chalk and pastels to decorate the streets of Rome and to fund his travel and study.

Kurt said: "Pavement art like this began in Rome in the late renaissance period so it's been around for 100's of years.
"My favourite subjects to draw are from classical mythology and religion."

His book Asphalt Renaissance is published by Sterling Innovation.

The Oasis of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship, is officially unveiled, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, America - 20 Nov 2009
WORLD'S LARGEST GBP 800M CRUISE SHIP UNVEILED

The world's largest and most expensive cruise liner has officially been unveiled to the public.

The 1,200-foot (360-metre) Oasis of the Seas was commissioned by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and comes with a GBP 800 million price tag.

Nearly six years in the making, the ship has 16 passenger decks, putting the highest 65 metres above the waterline.

At 1,187 feet (360 metres) long and 208 feet (65 metres) wide, it can hold 6,296 guests in total, along with 2,165 crew.

It boasts 2,706 guest staterooms, of which 1,956 have a balcony overlooking either the sea, Central Park or the Boardwalk.

The mammoth vessel is broken down in several different areas: Central Park, the Boardwalk, Pool & Sports Zone, Royal Promenade, Vitality at Sea Spa & Fitness, Entertainment Place and the Youth Zone.

Bringing the outdoors indoors, Central Park is the first ever living park at sea.

Located at the centre of the ship, it is open to the sky above and features 12,175 plants including 93 different plant varieties, 62 vine plants and 56 trees and bamboo.

The Boardwalk area has been inspired by traditional seaside piers and stretches for over 255 feet (77 metres).

As its centrepiece its boasts a carousel featuring 18 wooden figures, such as zebras, giraffes, lions and horses, which each took over six weeks to make.

The Boardwalk is also home to numerous cafes, shops and carnival games and, at the very end, the AquaTheater - an amphitheatre style pool and performance area.

The AquaTheater pool is the largest and deepest at sea; with seating for 735 people, it will play host to professional diving and theatrical performances.

    Meanwhile, the Royal Promenad...
