What are you looking at?
Photographer Megan Lorenz photographed this Burrowing Owl tilting its head as it stares intently at her camera.
Megan who took the pictures at Cape Coral, Florida explains, "Owls tilt their head to judge the position and distance of things around them. An owl’s eyes are fixed in position, so they can’t move their eyes like we can. To look to the side and up or down, an owl needs to move its head. They have necks that are very flexible and can do 270 degrees of a full head turn, looking over one shoulder, around the back, and almost over the opposite shoulder".

An eagle found itself under attack by an angry heron when it refused to budge from an African lagoon.
Dramatic pictures show the skirmish between an African fish eagle and the Goliath heron, which is the world's tallest species of heron, at Zimanga Game Reserve in South Africa.
Professional photographer Max Waugh, 40, captured the extraordinary battle from a purpose-built "hide" at the lagoon, designed to allow photographers to get even closer to wildlife without disturbing them.
