He chose to use military vehicles tracked the type of M29C Weasel, from Studebaker company. June 1, 1948 the shipment arrives in front of the Eqi glacier on the west coast of Greenland, north of Ilulissat and installs the camp I by building a hut near the sea. Then for two weeks, members of the expedition will open 8 km of track to camp II located at the foot of a cliff of 110 m, the last bastion before reaching the ice cap. At this place starts the work of installing a cable car to hoist the equipment of the expedition to the top of the cliff and reach the cap.

    Today in June 2016, paul emile victor hut from the camp I is always present, it has resisted attacks of polar climate and begins to rise again slowly. Inside are the inscriptions left by the first expeditions, testimony from the history of the French polar exploration. In July 2015, Prince Henrik of Denmark visited the hut of Paul Emile Victor and wants it renewed.
    Following the trail to the ice cap, we find the traces left by the caterpillars of different expeditions, the remaining material is still on the way. Arriving at the final cliff, reflecting a big pulley of the cable car is still present, around this place many expedition objects are still there(rope, piece of scrap metal, cans, ...) and have not moved for more than sixty years.     The Eqi Glacier in west Greenland, which ends in the fiord 80 kilometres north of Ilulissat. It is possible by boat to get very close to the glacier and experience huge pieces of ice breaking off. The sounds are enormous and the sight of the icebergs, crashing into the water, is breathtaking.
    Eqip Sermia, an ocean-terminating glacier, shows lots calving of iceberg. In some cases, these calving events can cause tsunami waves, generally these tsunami are moderate, but in some case big events can occur, during the collapse of a 200m high ice cliff caused a tsunami wave of 50m heights.     The Eqi Glacier in west Greenland, which ends in the fiord 80 kilometres north of Ilulissat. It is possible by boat to get very close to the glacier and experience huge pieces of ice breaking off. The sounds are enormous and the sight of the icebergs, crashing into the water, is breathtaking.
    Eqip Sermia, an ocean-terminating glacier, shows lots calving of iceberg. In some cases, these calving events can cause tsunami waves, generally these tsunami are moderate, but in some case big events can occur, during the collapse of a 200m high ice cliff caused a tsunami wave of 50m heights.
