Hammam al-Samra is one of the most important Ottoman architectural landmarks in Palestine. It is located in the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza and is considered one of the wonderful examples of the Ottoman baths in the country. It is the only bathroom remaining so far in Gaza City, where the splendor in its planning and the gradual transition from the hot room to the warm room to the cold room, which was roofed with a dome with round openings intertwined with colored glass allowing the sunlight to penetrate to illuminate the hall with natural light that gives the place elegance and beauty. The beautiful floor is paved with marble roundabouts, squares and triangles of various colors, and the bathroom was recently restored.

A large full bodied shark is showing as part of the Sea Creatures exhibition. The painstakingly preserved displays use the same plastination process developed by Dr. Gunther von Hagens and made famous by artist Damien Hirst, replacing fluids and soluble fats with resins and allowing us to view incredibly accurate 'cross-sections' of the creatures.

The library was funded by the American charity Friends of Mek?ele Blind School, who also bought and delivered a large number of braille textbooks. These range from topics including American Heritage, African Geography and English Language. Some textbooks are primarily braille, while others include written text alongside braille, allowing the sighted teachers to work collaboratively with the blind students. It is the only braille library in the whole of Tigray, and so the children are very fortunate to be able to use it

Mek'ele Blind School in Ethiopia is home to around 100 children, whose companionship and passion for their education is inspiring to encounter.

Photographer Tom Pullen visited the school last year, which lies on the outskirts of the city of Mek'ele in the vast northern Tigray region of Ethiopia.
