What cost-of-living crisis? Australians splashing the cash on luxury bags, health clubs and art. The Purse Affair in Melbourne.
Owner Alex Leung at The Purse Affair in Melbourne, which specialises in secondhand high-end bags.

His store is for the wealthy elite who don't want to be on the wait list for a Birkin or who are unhappy with the one offered and want it in a different colour.

It's also for the "want-to-be aspirational middle class" looking to get a bargain - a high-end brand at a consignment price. The store, The Purse Affair, is filled wall to wall with secondhand designer bags - more choice than you would ever get shopping inside Gucci or Fendi or Dior.

The Purse Affair specialises in high-end second-hand bags, and authentication. Owner Alex Leung with a Hermes Birkin bags. Melbourne. Australia

The Lebanese economy in freefall – a photo essay. Photojournalist Achilleas Zavallis travels to Lebanon and finds a country struggling with the effects of economic decline and mismanagement. Inflation is out of control, destroying the spending power of all but a wealthy minority. Lebanon has long been a country that somehow held it together. Through war, insurrection, chaos and intervention, it always prevailed. It remains a country of contrasting realities, but it is steadily becoming a place where dreams died. Beirut long ago lost its claim to be the Levantine equivalent of Paris. Its vibrant nightlife has been dulled by an economic implosion.

Rodeo Drive Shops - Beverly Hills - 2014
June 21, 2014 - Beverly Hills/Los Angeles, California, U.S - Ralph Lauren opened his first boutique, 'Polo,' on Rodeo Drive in 1971. Lauren, working as a tie salesmen, designed his own tie using rags and remnants, he quit his job and sold his ties on his own using 'Polo' as a brand name. ---Rodeo Drive, in the heart of Beverly Hills, is a two-way, two mile long, north south city street with a mix of small to large luxury homes, city parks and green areas as well as world class high end signature flagship stores and shops with globally known luxury goods at it's south end.---Beverly Hills, ranch land originally known as Rancho Rodeo de las Aguas, was subdivided into lots for homes in 1906 by a group of investors led by Burton Green. The 75x160 foot lots first sold at about ,100 in 1907 but were soon selling at 5 and 10 times that amount. Rodeo Drive, in the heart of Beverly Hills, stretched south for two miles from Sunset Blvd to Wilshire Blvd., featured a rail line along it's entire length with a business district in the middle with hardware stores and clothing store as well as shoes, car repair and household goods. From the beginning Beverly Hills, and especially homes along Rodeo Drive, was the place to be for the Los Angeles elite. It was not until 1967 when Fred Hayman opened a luxury goods store, 'Giorgio Beverly Hills,' followed by Aldo Gucci in 1968 and Vidal Sassoon with a salon in 1970, that Rodeo Drive came to be known as a center for International fashion and other expensive goods. The shopping district along Rodeo Drive, with some of the highest per foot lease rates in the world, stretches out from Little Santa Monica Blvd south to Wilshire Blvd. In just a few blocks, shoppers can find the same suits, luggage, watches, jewelry, and women's high fashion in shoes and clothing, as anywhere in Paris, London and Rome. Design showing how the containers can link brands and customers across the World
Architects Design 'Jenga Hotel' With Removable Container Rooms
Architects in Hong Kong have designed a jenga-inspired hotel.

Hive-inn hotel would be composed of recycled shipping containers which can be inserted and removed, depending on the needs and business of the hotel.

The jenga-like grid structure would allow containers to be slotted in and removed without disturbing the other container rooms.

The creators, Slimane Ouahes and Christophe Barthelemy, of Ova Studio believe that as well as being an innovative hotel design with space for branding, the idea could also be extended as a response for emergency housing or medical care units.

The duo explained that the design of the hotel lies in the idea of maximum flexibility and mobility, a trend that is embodied in our modern way of living.

"Containers came as a natural answer to this vision; the challenge was to keep it technically feasible, mobile, and fun.

"We wanted to keep the true nature of containers alive: containers are mobile, containers travel! It created this interesting paradox in which hotel rooms can come to you, expanding the market to residents. They can also travel with you, or you can travel to them. This equation led to many possibilities and creative opportunities," said Barthelemy.

The architects have also thought of how to feature green spaces and garden areas. They explained that under and above each container a service cassette would provide electricity, air conditioning, fresh water and drainage.

These cassettes would be filled with soil, allowing garden and kitchen gardens to be created.

    They explained: "This...
