Orion EM-1 being lifted and mated to test stand for pressure checks
Orion Crew Module for Exploration Mission-1 Lifted to test stand, Kennedy Space Center, Florida, Britain - 21 Apr 2016
This newlt-released imase shows the Orion spacecraft crew module for Exploration Mission-1 (EM-1) lifted into a test stand for pressure testing in the Neil Armstrong Operations & Checkout Building at NASA?s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. A team from NASA and Lockheed Martin is getting ready for Orion?s proof pressure testing, an evaluation that will help verify the structural integrity of Orion?s underlying structure known as the pressure vessel.
The work is an important milestone on Orion?s journey toward EM-1, its mission atop the Space Launch System rocket in 2018. EM-1 will not have humans aboard, but it will pave the way for future missions with astronauts and for missions to Mars. During this flight, Orion will travel thousands of miles beyond the moon over the course of about three weeks.

Astronaut Scott Kelly's best pictures from year in space - 2016
As the two year-long inhabitants of the International Space Station touch back down to Earth near the town of Zhezkazgan, Kazakhstan on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 (Kazakh time), we select the best images snapped from space by Commander Scott Kelly of NASA.
The Soyuz TMA-18M spacecraft returned with Expedition 46 Commander Kelly of NASA and Russian cosmonauts Mikhail Kornienko and Sergey Volkov. Kelly and Kornienko completed an International Space Station record year-long mission to collect valuable data on the effect of long duration weightlessness on the human body that will be used to formulate a human mission to Mars.
