    CHRISTMAS TREE HOUSE

When it comes to Christmas time, family man Greig Howe doesn't do things by halves - he does it by thirds!

The devoted Bournemouth dad likes to give his three children a big Christmas - with a huge 40ft tree that shoots up through all three floors of his house.

The stunning stunt requires the towering fir to be cut into three equal parts, with the bottom chunk filling up the lounge and middle section squeezed into the bedroom immediately above it.

The top third is then hoisted into position by a crane and placed on the roof directly above to give the illusion the whole tree takes up the entire house.

The novelty tree delights his three children Harry, 12, Roni, four, and Finn, two, and causes great amusement to Greig's neighbours and passers-by.

His bold plans takes weeks of careful planning, from Greig identifying the right tree in the New Forest to having a huge trailer specially made to take it away on.

And with Greig being an environmentalist, this year he used a tiny G-Wiz electric car to pull the tree and trailer back to his home in Bournemouth, Dorset.

The extraordinary sight caused great hilarity among bemused motorists who stopped to take pictures as the two-seater vehicle towing the festive load 15 miles home.

From there Greig had a small army of friends to help cut it up, erect it and decorate it with 200 baubles and 2,000 LED lights.

The whole operation from chopping it down to putting it up has taken a total of five days.

Greig, 36, said: "I've been working on this for weeks but it has all been worth it now it is up, it looks fantastic.

"I did it for the first time last Christmas and the kids really loved it so I had to repeat it this year."

An innovative Dorset father-of-three has gone one up on the Joneses this Christmas.

35-year-old Greig Howe came up with the idea of creating the illusion of a giant Christmas tree growing through both floors and the roof of their home in Bournemouth.

To do this, the Christmas cracker bought a 35ft fir tree at a cost of GBP 250, then sawed it into three sections with the help of a group of friends.

He then placed the parts one above the other in separate rooms before decorating it with 2,000 fairy lights.

Mr Howe said he came up with the novel idea after his 11-year-old son Harry complained about last year's 5ft tree being too small.

It came as a surprise to Harry when he came home from school one day to see the top of the tree apparently sprouting out of the roof.

He told the Daily Mail, "'I think it looks wicked. Last year we had a tree that was about the same size as me, so I asked Dad if he could get a bigger one this year.

'But I didn't think it would be this big. I came home and couldn't believe it when I saw it. I couldn't speak. I really thought the tree had gone through the roof.'

The followers of Abdullah Ocalan, the leader and president of the rebel group, believe that he can lead the Kurds to freedom and independence. The Turkish government has been holding Ocalan captive since he was captured in Kenya in 1999.

The PKK (Kurdish Workers Party) has approximately 3,000 militants based in northern Iraq. The PKK wants a breakaway Kurdish state, and has been accused of several bombings in Turkey, one of the attacks was on the popular seaside resort of Kusadasi, killing five people in July 2005. Turkey?s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has threatened to take action against the Kurdish rebels that have situated themselves in northern Iraq. If US-led forces can stop them from crossing the border, Erdogan will reconsider.
In early October 2007, PKK fighters carried out an ambush near the border with Iraq, killing 13 Turkish soldiers. The incident has sparked renewed threats from the Turkish government to cross over into Iraq to pursue the fighters.
Almost 40,000 people have died in clashes between the Turkish army and PKK over the past two decades.
