Police in the USA are hunting thief who raided a store — dressed as animated cartoon character Scooby-Doo.
Officers in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, are trying to identify the suspect who was dressed in full Scooby-Doo brown spotted fancy dress.
The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday, June 22, at a convenience store.
According to Tuscaloosa Police, the break-in happened at around 3:45 a.m., triggering the store’s alarm system catching him on CCTV camera.
The suspect paired the suit with a green ski mask and used a duffel bag to carry off his contraband.
It included a haul of cash and coins.
A police spokesperson joked with a witness appeal: “Hey gang! We need your help solving a mystery.
“This individual in a Scooby-Doo suit broke into the Quick Stop on Highway 82 in Duncanville.
“Officers responded to the store after the security alarm activated at 3:45 a.m. Sunday.”
Referring to Scooby’s love of Scooby Snack dog treats, they added: ““The suspect took cash and coins, but no snacks.
“Anyone who can help us unmask this villain may call 205-349-2121 or submit an anonymous tip on our app. “

Mop-wielding shopkeeper fends off three armed robbers, Rushden, Northants, Britain - 24 Jan 2012
*full story: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/ewgr* A brave shopkeeper fought off three armed robbers using only a mop. Dinesh Gorania, 50 and his son Kishan, 21, were shutting up their shop when a masked man with a crow bar tried to enter and demanded money. But Mr Gorania, who had been cleaning the floor, hit the man with his mop, forcing him backwards. The man, who was swearing and threatening the pair, tried two more times to get into The Premier Store in Rushden, Northants, but Mr Gorania repeatedly hit him with the mop. Kishan then grabbed a hockey stick to help keep the man away. Two other masked men with crowbars then got out of a car and threw a metal bar at Mr Gorania, which he managed to block with his arm. The defeated men then got back in the car empty-handed, but smashed the shop window and the windows of Mr Gorania's van and Kishan's car as they left.
