Pinned inside his vehicle, Matthew Reum waited for help to come. But no one knew he had gone missing ...
Matthew Reum was driving home late on a dark, foggy night in Indiana when his headlights landed on what looked like a deer. As he swerved, his truck barrel-rolled down a ravine, into the creek beneath Interstate 94.
Matthew Reum visits for the first time since being rescued to the place where he was involved in a major accident, and he picks up pieces of his truck on February 5, 2025, in Portge, Indiana. In December 2024, while driving on an interstate highway, Reum swerved to avoid hitting a deer, causing his truck to crash through a guardrail, plummet down an embankment, and land under a bridge overpass next to a small creek. Trapped for six days without food, water, or phone access, he was discovered by two fishermen and later had his leg amputated due to the injuries.
