Sunday, July 22, about forty volunteers mobilized to clean a pond that had been ravaged by Hurricane Irma. There are hundreds of sheets and thousands of different garbage that have found themselves in this pond. The drought completely dried up the pond, which facilitated the work of these volunteers. The ponds are the responsibility of the Coastal Conservatory which began cleaning on other ponds on the island.//AMBLARDFLORIANNE_1135.03836/Credit:Amblard Florianne/SIPA/1807251118 (FOTO: DUKAS/SIPA) *** Local Caption *** 00869259

    " Cul de Sac"
A land of desolation, more than 5 months after Irma, reconstruction is only at its premises, of the 38 000 inhabitants of the French part of Saint Martin, 20 000 were homeless as a result of this disaster. Many Metropolitans have left the devastated island. The insurance has not all compensated the inhabitants, many are those who have not started the work.

It is clear that in some parts of the island, like Cul de Sac or Anse Marcel nothing or almost nothing has been done.

Tourism is almost non-existent in the French part, there is no longer a hotel to house them. By cons in Dutch part everything seems to go for the better, the American tourists are new on the island.

SINT MAARTEN MORE THAN 5 MONTHS AFTER ÇIRMAÈ
