Plasticine interpretations of art masterpieces by Svitlana Postelga, Kiev, Ukraine - 02 Sep 2014
    FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/pd6h

These amazing recreations of masterpiece paintings are created entirely from... Plasticine.

Ukrainian Svitlana Postelga painstakingly builds up the artworks using pieces of the children's modelling clay.

The 43-year-old is an economist at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy in Kiev, but says she works through the night to help her forget her problems.

Highlights include the colourfully surreal classic Vertumnus by Giuseppe Arcimboldo, The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo, and Madonna Benua by Leonardo Da Vinci.

Svitlana has even managed to capture the intricate details of works including The Last Day of Pompeii by Karl Briullov.

Svitlana says she was encouraged by her daughters Kate, 20, and Maryann, 17, to produce the putty paintings to help her get over depression after a divorce.
