Opera Singer Maria Callas 1923 - 1977
Jan. 1, 1955 - Paris, France - American-born Greek dramatic opera singer MARIA CALLAS at a press conference. She remains an icon with an instantly recognizable voice. She was the first opera singer to be equipped with the ingredients of international celebrity: charisma, glamour, wealth, with scandal and tragedy. Every female opera singer has been measured against this powerful role model. (Credit Image: © Keystone Press Agency/ZUMA - DALLE (FOTO: DUKAS/DALLE) --- NO WEB USAGE ---

ROYALS - Prinzessin Margarets Perlen- und Diamantarmband sind für für 400'000 Pfund verkauft worden
A stunning Art Deco cultured pearl and diamond bracelet owned by Princess Margaret and worn for her 19th birthday photograph taken by Cecil Beaton in 1949, sold for £396,800 on Tuesday (14September2021).
The bracelet was only estimated to fetch £30,000-40,000 at auctioneers Dix Noonan Webb in their auction of Jewellery, Watches and Objects of Vertu sale in Mayfair but was bought by a private buyer for almost ten times that amount.
Comprising a double row of cultured pearls bordering a millegrain-set line of circular-cut diamonds to a diamond and pearl openwork geometric clasp, it dates from circa 1925. It was presented in a later fitted red leather Cartier case. It had been previously sold at Christie’s in 2006 in their prestigious auction of Jewellery and Fabergé from the Collection of H.R.H The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon.
According to Cecil Beaton’s diary, the bracelet was featured in the first of six portraits that he took of Queen Elizabeth II's late sister before her marriage in 1960. Taken on July 8, 1949, it was published on her birthday, August 21.
He recalled: “She was at Lords for the Eton and Harrow match, and got back a bit late but she is such a quick dresser that a few moments after her return she appeared changed into the new evening dress Hartnell had supplied her that morning – a dull dress of white tulle embroidered with sequin butterflies and a rainbow tulle scarf around the waist. She looked very pretty and wore quite a lot of make-up – and the eyes are of a piercing blue – catlike and fierce and so very pristine and youthful….”
Frances Noble, Head of the Jewellery Department and Associate Director at Dix Noonan Webb, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the price achieved today for the Art Deco bracelet formerly in the collection of HRH Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon. It not only reflects the strength of the current auction market but also the overriding importance of provenance. Princess Marga

Pearls have been encased in the clear section of the ring
'Miniature world' ring designs, Germany - Sep 2015
FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/r4ht
A designer has created a unique jewellery range that places a 'miniature world' inside a clear-ring.
German-designer Isabell Kiefhabe spends several hours carefully creating miniature designs, which are encased in a see-through ring.
Isabell said: "I really like to place ordinary objects, that generally nobody pays attention to, into jewels. In addition, I add materials like gold-leaf, silver or pearls to make the pieces eye-catching."
In the pictures, tiny objects, such as an origami bird, a swimming scene and a mermaid can be seen encased inside a clear-ring.
The intricate work can take up to several hours to make one design.

Adir-Suu, a unique valley, lies in the North Caucasus of Russia. It's small but it fraught with a lot of pearls. One of the nights I was lucky enough to spend under the stars near the picturesque mountain peaks Ulla-Tau and Cheget-Tau, which are over 4,000m high
The beauty of the night sky, Russia
The beautiful colouring of the night sky from a high altitude is almost beyond belief.
Boris Dmitriev is a traveller, explorer, and photographer with a passion for astronomy. These photos are testament to his dedication for capturing and sharing the stunning views of stars from Russian mountains.
