Gareth Staples-Jones and Labour members out canvassing in Radcliffe West.

Disillusioned supporters and Jewish voters may hold key to keeping council control.

Situated in the south-west of the borough of Bury, Radcliffe has long been a place of contradictions and political turmoil. The packed terrace houses, once homes to workers in a thriving paper industry, have sweeping views over lush green fields.

These wards in the town, north of Manchester, are home to some of the area’s tightest election contests – split between Labour, the Conservatives and the independent group Radcliffe First.

A Yes campaigner engages with a woman in the Main Street in Ennis, County Clare, where a temporary memorial in honour of the women who have had to travel to England for abortions was erected today. The Yes campaign was out in force in force across Ireland today as the Abortion referendum entered its last day of canvassing. Judging by the regular takers of Yes badges among young voters a Yes vote sems likely in the town of Ennis. However among older women in particular the reaction was less positive.

Eleanor, 16, works among a memorial of shoes set out in the Main Street in Ennis, County Clare, in honour of the women who have had to travel to England for abortions. Although she cannot vote in tomorrow's referendum on repealing the 8th Amendment to the Irish constitution she got involved to increase the options women have. The Yes campaign was out in force in force across Ireland today as the Abortion referendum entered its last day of canvassing. Judging by the regular takers of Yes badges among young voters a Yes vote sems likely in the town of Ennis. However among older women in particular the reaction was less positive.
