Over the next few years they gradually acquired the whole island, and began cinnamon and coconut plantations that grew into thriving businesses, with 1,000 people living on the island by the 1950s. Unfortunately, a crash in the copra market at that time forced the family to mortgage the island. Subsequently, in 1960, the bank foreclosed, and a century of Dauban ownership came to an end on Silhouette. Now the Seychelles government owns the entire island.

A rare sale of Marilyn Monroe's personal possessions will feature a robe purported to be the last item of clothing she wore.
The assembled items include clothing from her personal and professional wardrobe and furniture from her Brentwood, California hacienda style home.
The items offer a rare glimpse into the personal life of the tragic legend who resided in the Brentwood home until her death.
Among over 150 items offered for sale is a white terry cloth robe ($8,000 - 10,000) claimed to be the last item of clothing Monroe wore before her death.
This is also an umbrella Monroe held for an iconic photograph taken by Andre de Dienes in 1949 at Tobey Beach.
Other highlights from Marilyn's Brentwood home include; an orange Pucci blouse ($7,000-9,000), Monroe's dining room table (est. $10,000/12,000), living room coffee table (est. $8,000/10,000), Mexican tile table (est. $500/1,000), set of four living room folding benches (est. $5,000/7,000), Mexican framed mirror (est. $3,000/5,000), and other fine & decorative art pieces.

At first glance these photos seem like any other happy beach scene. Sunbathers bask in the heat, chatting to friends, applying sunlotion and going for a dip in the sea. However, just yards away from these cheerful beachgoers the body of a drowned man lies wrapped in towels. A large parasol shields the body from one half of the beach but even those who have a good view seem unconcerned. They continue to go about their business, apparently unmoved by the grisly sight which occupies Mappatella beach in Naples with them. Last year Italy was left shocked after photographs emerged of beach-goers happily sunbathing near the dead bodies of two Gypsy girls on another beach in Naples. At the time the images triggered harsh criticism from Archbishop of the city, Crescenzio Sepe.
