The cat rescued with a jar stuck on his head
Cat with a jar stuck on his head, Kemsley, Sittingbourne, Kent, Britain - 24 May 2016
FULL WORDS: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/se7b
The puss was spotted outside a paper recycling firm in Kemsley, Sittingbourne, with the pickle jar stuck fast on his head.
Staff at DS Smith Paper Limited called the animal welfare charity after spotting the puss in a pickle on Tuesday (24 May).
RSPCA animal collection officer (ACO) Emma Byrne was called at around 2.30pm by a concerned staff member.
?I spotted the frightened and confused cat under a portable cabin but couldn?t reach him so set up a trap,? ACO Byrne said. ?We went back to check on him that night but he?d still not ventured out from his hiding place and stayed hidden for the next few days."

Rescue chimpanzees in snow, Cle Elum, Washington, America - 30 Dec 2015

Everyone loves snow - including these delightful rescue chimpanzees.
The apes were only too happy to frolic around in the white stuff at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest in Cle Elum, Washington.
The hairy group are being cared for after years being used by the biomedical research industry for hepatitis vaccine trials and to breed more chimpanzees for biomedical research.
For the last several years, before coming to sanctuary, the chimpanzees were housed in a windowless basement of a laboratory with no access to the outdoors.
So, it is no surprise the chimps were happy to get out and explore the white stuff last Wednesday (30 Dec).
Diana Goodrich, sanctuary co-director, explains: "When I gave the chimps access to Young?s Hill, Jamie was ready and waiting and literally squeezed through the doorway as it was opening. She immediately headed onto the hill, grabbing the toy shovel we had left on her way and headed out to help finish clearing the pathways."

Carlow the fire station cat pictured with a rescued dog. The comment reads: "Throwback to that time the engine rescued this pup and she thought she'd become my mutual partner"
Carlow the fire station cat, New York, America - 08 Dec 2015

Meet Carlow the firefighting cat. Well, not quite firefighting, you are more likely to find this rescued male moggie asleep on a pile of crew jackets, or asleep on a fire truck, or under one for that matter.
Four-year-old Carlow lives in a firehouse in Yorkville, Manhattan after being found and adopted by firefighters of Engine 22, Ladder 13.
He was an underfed stray kitten found hiding in a tyre at a mechanic?s shop when they found him.
"The idea was that Carlow could help keep mice out of the firehouse. Ever since he's been here, we don't see many mice at all," comments a fire station spokesperson, who says they are 'Carlow's PR'.
Mostly, found dozing, there is some excitement : a disgruntled Carlow is pictured being given a wash along with the comment: "Throwback nightmare to the time they tried to wash me".

Caiman stuck in swimming pool
Snapper Almost Snapped By Caiman Trapped In Pool
A photographer was almost snapped himself when a caiman nearly sank its teeth into his leg.
Wildlife guide and photographer Paul Goldstein rushed to assist when the 10ft reptile got stuck in a pool at Pousada Araras Lodge in Pantanal, Brazil.
Wimbledon-based Paul explains: "I was alerted by one of my tour clients after breakfast that an adult caiman was at the bottom of the pool.
"The creature had got himself stuck and local guide Juan and Ingrid Girahn from the lodge did their best to help free it from its chlorine-based incarceration.
"It proved very hard and also dangerous as a bite from this ten foot close relative of the crocodile would be more than a little graze.
"This is a heavy animal so once I realised it was a struggle I got involved but it twisted out of our grasp.
"It was not until I saw the photos that I realised it was that close to biting me.
"Eventually it was freed and skulked down to a nearby shrunken pool to go fishing, it seemed the caiman was unimpressed by the whole ordeal."

'A perfect storm': the dedicated rescuers caring for sodden seabirds blown in by Cyclone Alfred
Birdwatchers' thrill of seeing birds up close that usually spend their lives at sea is tempered by sadness and pity at the extent of injuries.
While seabirds are highly evolved to survive in extreme environments, cyclones cause mass casualties.
Unable to land or find food in the churning ocean, they become exhausted and quickly lose conditioning. Many are carried hundreds of kilometres inland, where they invariably perish. The lucky ones are found and taken into care.

October 7 massacre survivor, Israeli soldier Ori Megidish
EXCLUSIVE: July 24, 2024 - Tel Aviv, Israel: On 7 October 2023, Ori Megidish was an 18 year old private in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). She was a "Spotter", one of what are known in Hebrew as the "tatzpitaniyot" (female members of the IDF who serve as field observers), at the Nahal Oz base watching for threats along the Israel-Gaza border by analyzing video filmed by cameras along the border fences. During the Hamas-led attack on Israel, she and other members of her unit were taken hostage after Hamas militants overran and briefly took over the Nahal Oz military base. Only two members of her unit escaped death or abduction. While Megidish was kidnapped along with other soldiers from her base, she was believed to have been held in captivity alone. The rescue of Ori Megidish was an Israel Defense Forces military Operation Beginning of the Light on 30 October 2023. Megidish was rescued in a joint operation between the IDF and the Israeli Shin Bet, based on specific intelligence of her whereabouts. Two Hamas militants were killed during the operation. Megidish's rescue was the first successful rescue operation by Israel in about two decades, and the first of the Israel-Hamas war. (Ziv Koren/Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS)
