Sea Story
When you are six , it is exciting and good fun to steal away with a friend for an early morning dip. To overcome any fears, you can stand at the waters edge and let the foam tickle your toes , or you can rush along the edge of the sea just out of reach of the white horses. After the swim , you can play in the sand , tease each other and even have a little squabble . But the game must end , because swimming makes you hungry , and even the bravest people must eat . Maybe, you think on your walk home , we can do the same thing tomorrow .
PICTURE SHOWS:- Two children, a boy and a girl, stroll back home from the beach along a path in the summer sunshine.

Auction at Christie’s
July 1954
Despite currency restrictions and other irritations of the post-war world, London is still the centre of the art market, and Christie’s is the great focus of that market in London. This is the first set of photographs taken since Christie’s returned to their premises in King Street after German bombs completed gutted the building in 1941, leaving nothing but a shell. This particular auction of furniture, rugs, porcelain and objects of art fetched £22,479 and 9 shillings.

LONDON ROAD NAMED AFTER FRENCH VICHY ADMIRAL
INHABITANTS WANT IT CHANGED
Many of the inhabitants of Darlan Road, Fulham, London would like the name of their road changed from the name of Darlan (the French Vichy Admiral) to something more patriotically British.
Some of them suggest " Churchill " or " Wavell " would be more appropriate, but it is said that roads are never named after living prople in England.
If the name is changed the inhabitants will have to pay Half a crown each towards the cost of a new name plate.
Photo Shows: A working man passing by the road stops for a moment and looks up with interest on the name of a block of flats in Darlan Road - Darlan Mansions.
