The Moment A Stunt Driver Found Himself In Wheely Big Trouble
A stunt driver in this monster truck found himself well and truly stuck when his bid to drive over the top of a fire engine spectacularly backfired.

Lewis Cook successfully drove his four ton truck, known as The Crusher, over cars and a bus at Northamptonshire's Santa Pod Raceway.

But when he tried to climb over the fire engine, his giant, 10ft tall truck reared up and was left standing upright on its back wheels.

Lewis, 43, was unhurt but had to sit and wait suspended in mid-air for several minutes.

Eventually, a bulldozer righted the truck and brought him back down to earth at the Wellingborough racetrack on Sunday.

Lewis, from Heathfield, East Sussex, had been taking part in a freestyle contest for monster trucks where drivers compete to pull off the most outrageous stunts.

He said: "By the time it was my turn to go, nobody had attempted the fire engine.

"The other drivers were a bit sceptical about it.

"I got over the bus, turned a corner and saw the fire engine in front of me.

"I thought that if the others wouldn't give it a go I would.

"I thought it would give more than it did and I would be able to get over the top of it.

"But when I hit it, it was like crashing into a brick wall.

"It left me vertical. I was trying to get more power on but couldn't. Then I tried to reverse and that didn't happen either. I realised I was not going anywhere.

"It was a little bit strange. My concern was that something was smoking in the back of the truck.

"But the fire crew came in and cooled everything off.

"I didn't win the competition but it left the crowd buzzing and was very spectacular."

Stray kitten gets head stuck in soup can, Louisville, America - 23 Mar 2011
A 6-month-old stray male kitten got itself in the soup after foraging for food - literally.

The male youngster got its head trapped after poking it into a discarded can of Campbell's soup.

After being found in the road it was bought to the Metro Animal Services in Louisville, Kentucky, by animal control officer Raymond Thomas and immediately taken to the vet staff.

Veterinary assistant Brenda Keel initially tried to remove the can, but the kitten - dubbed 'Campbell' - started crying. He was sedated and a pair of bolt cutters were used to cut the can off of his head.

Cold temperatures and his inability to move meant Campbell was hypothermic, but vets managed to stabilise his condition.

"Our staff did a great job rescuing this little guy from what could have been a 'can-tastrophe'," said Jackie Gulbe, Animal Services assistant director for community relations. "He is a friendly, sweet boy who is available for adoption at the Animal House Adoption Center."

    Julian Assange released on bail
December 16, 2010, London, England, United Kingdom: A UK court granted WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange bail after he was held for charges in Sweden. Assange, a 39-year-old Australian, has been held in a UK jail for more than a week, following his surrender to police in a Swedish sex-crimes investigation. He denies any wrongdoing and is fighting Sweden's extradition request. He and his supporters allege that the charges stem from political motivations surrounding sensitive material his website has published, including leaked US military information.///Photographers scramble for a shot of Mark Stephens, Julian Assange's lawyer at his bail appeal at London's Royal Courts of Justice.. Water Tricky Situation To Get Into!
This little fox cub got more than he bargained for when he investigated a garden watering can - and got his head stuck fast.

The four-week-old cub was exploring a family garden in Surrey when it decided to take a peak into the small metal can.

However, it soon discovered that putting its head in was a lot easier than getting it back out again.

As it realised it was stuck the distressed cub began running around the garden, bumping into objects and crying out.

The family who owned the garden, in West Horsley, near Leatherhead, heard the fox's whimpers and went to investigate.

They found the terrified creature near to their shed and unsuccessfully tried to free him.

However, when their attempts failed they took the tiny cub, which has been called Jacob, to their local animal rescue centre.

Here Simon Cowell, the owner of the centre, 58, spent 20 minutes trying to free it from the can.

Eventually he managed to carefully pry the cub's head lose and free the very relieved youngster.

Mr Cowell said: "Animals get into the most absurd situations and at this time of year there are a few orphans walking about who get in a bit of trouble.

"We had to move quite quickly when he was brought in because if he had been in there much longer he would have died.

"Jacob was obviously quite distressed but I've done this kind of thing quite a bit and we calmed him down.

"I very gently and slowly slid his head out. When he came out he was absolutely fine, the metal hadn't cut into him and he was just salivating a bit because he was very hungry".

A hungry king snake saw something move and went for. Once it started eating there was no way back for the victim. . . or was there. Luckily the unnamed owner saw that the snake had taken its own tale for a meal and rushed him to Vet Rob Reynolds at Seers Croft Veterinary Surgery, Nr Crawley, Sussex, for help, who immediately dislocated its jaw. Once the snake starts swallowing it is hard to regurgitate as the backward-facing teeth grip the skin like a ratchet. The tail was gently slid out and, because it had not been inside long enough for digestion to start, the snake did well and is now recovering.

    CURIOSITY TRAPPED THE CAT

A mischievous moggy was left crying "ME-OWW" for an hour after getting his head stuck in a car wheel.

Clumsy Casper the cat had to be freed by firemen after a passer-by spotted him wedged in the alloy wheel.

They contacted the RSPCA and he was taken to the nearby fire station where firefighters spent an hour using specialist small cutting gear to free him.

The poor puss put up a struggle but was wheely relieved to get rid of his spare tyre.

"We've seen lots of unusual cases but this was certainly a new one for us," said Watch manager James Fawcett, from Bury St Edmunds fire station, Suffolk.

"The poor cat wasn't very happy and kept trying to bite and scratch which made it very difficult for us.

"We had to use cutting equipment to chip away at the wheel and it took the best part of an hour.

"We made a special plastic guard to fit between his head and the cutters to protect him.

"The cat was fine afterwards although his skin was a bit raw around his neck."

The hapless Siamese was taken to a local vet to be checked over and is now being cared for by Amy Stubbs, a member of the RSPCA.

"The cat was very lucky to be rescued and it's great that we were contacted about him," said a spokesman for the RSPCA.

"He is absolutely fine now. He's staying with one of our officers until an owner can be found."
