A powerful earthquake hit southern Taiwan,' Tainan City killing at least five people and injuring 49 according to China Central Television early morning. Rescuers have rushed to scour the wreckage, plucking survivors and then taken to hospitals. The mainland has offered to help Taiwan following the deadly earthquake and the ARATS has sent a letter to the SEF offering rescue assistance if needed.
