Flocks and herds of grazing free-range farm animals could one day be monitored by a specially built drone able to round up strays like a sheep dog.In many parts of the world, sheep in particular are let out to feed in all sports of terrains. The drone, called Bitzer, is designed to follow and monitor sheep and other types of animals. It’s GPS and a live video feed would help modern day shepherds track and monitor their animals without having to physically find them on foot. The name Bitzer was inspired by the sheepdog in the popular children’s television program Shaun the Sheep. The Bitzer would be able to act as a ‘sheepdog of the skies’ finding and tracking the sheep to make sure they are safe and accounted for while saving time for the farmer.

Thousands of starlings flock together above Lough Ennell
Tens of thousands of Starlings gather over Lough Ennell, Ireland - 04 Feb 2011
Tens of thousands of starlings perform an aerial dance over an Irish lake. Captured over Lough Ennell, Ireland, these birds could be mistaken for a dark cloud silhouetted against the orange sky. Dipping and diving, they make a real din. This ritualistic event is a way the birds decide where they should find shelter for the night. Simon Semperski, a 40-year-old Polish-born photographer who has been living in Ireland for the past five years, took these magnificent pictures. He said: "I was down by the lake to see the sun set, when I heard the familiar sound of the arriving starlings, the sound grew louder as more and more approached. "The sky was then full of them, they were fluttering from every side, they move so fast and in such unison that there is a breeze caused by their wings. "It's a powerful sight to watch as the sun dips below the horizon and a whole little universe prepares for the night."
