A robot with a human head and torso is being developed for hotels — to clean toilets.
The machine moves around on wheels and is able to use brushes to clean lavatory bowls.
It can also replace shampoos and soaps in shower units and clean sinks, dispose of any rubbish left behind - and even water a vase of flowers.
The H1 is the work of a Chinese start-up called Zerith which was only set up in January 2025.
By not making the robot bipedal the engineering is easier.
The robot features a height-adjustable body and flexible universal wheels, enabling it to navigate tight hotel corridors and adapt to various room layouts.
It is able to stoop to pick up items from the floor, placing toiletries on vanities, and organising footwear on racks without colliding with furniture or guests.
It is able to operate completely autonomously.
Instead of five fingered hands, it has grasping pincers which are still able to perform delicate manoeuvres.
