At the bottom of the North Sea, out of air and with no hope of rescue, I said goodbye to all my dreams: Chris Lemons.

Diver Chris Lemons was 300ft beneath the surface when he lost contact with his colleagues, their support ship - and his air supply. How did he escape that 'dark, lonely' place?

  • Matthew Reum: My truck plunged into a ravine - and for six days I was trapped, alone and afraid

Matthew Reum: My truck plunged into a ravine - and for six days I was trapped, alone and afraid.

Pinned inside his vehicle, Matthew Reum waited for help to come. But no one knew he had gone missing ...

Matthew Reum was driving home late on a dark, foggy night in Indiana when his headlights landed on what looked like a deer. As he swerved, his truck barrel-rolled down a ravine, into the creek beneath Interstate 94.

A drain pipe, positioned directly above Matthew Reum’s truck when it was trapped under a bridge overpass for six days, is pictured at the site of the accident, where it allowed him to collect water to sustain himself and stay alive, on February 5, 2025, in Portge, Indiana. In December 2024, Reum’s truck crashed through a guardrail, plummeted down an embankment, and landed under the bridge. Trapped without food, water, or phone access, he was eventually discovered by two fishermen and later had his leg amputated due to the injuries.

Matthew Reum visits for the first time since being rescued to the place where he was involved in a major accident, and he picks up pieces of his truck on February 5, 2025, in Portge, Indiana. In December 2024, while driving on an interstate highway, Reum swerved to avoid hitting a deer, causing his truck to crash through a guardrail, plummet down an embankment, and land under a bridge overpass next to a small creek. Trapped for six days without food, water, or phone access, he was discovered by two fishermen and later had his leg amputated due to the injuries.
