FEATURE - Eine junge Robbe legt sich entspannt auf eine Eisscholle
COOL POSE...... A young seal strikes a relaxed pose as it reclines on an ice floe. The crabeater seal dried off on the large block of floating sea ice for a quarter of an hour - completely unmoved by a boat sailing just a few feet away.
These photos were captured from the boat by wildlife photographer Nick Dale at Portal Point in Charlotte Bay, on the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. SEE OUOR COPY FOR DETAILS.

Victoria the Polar Bear and her cub take their first steps out into the big enclosure at the Highland Wildlife Park
Polar bear cub to be introduced to the public, Highland Wildlife Park, Scotland, UK - 20 Mar 2018
Visitors to the Royal Zoological Society?s Highland Wildlife Park tomorrow (Wednesday 21 March) may see the first polar bear cub to be born in the UK for 25 years. Born in December, the cub has taken its first steps into the park?s outdoor enclosure, which has been closed to the public to allow mum Victoria the privacy she needed. Staff at the park, at Kincraig, near Kingussie, are advising visitors that the cub may only be visible for small periods of time to begin with. Una Richardson, head keeper, said, ?Having spent four months in her maternity den, Victoria quickly took the chance to go outside. Understandably, her cub has been more cautious and is still getting used to new sights, smells and sounds. While the cub will become more confident and start to explore the large enclosure with Victoria, this will take time and they will always have access to their den for peace and quiet. There is no guarantee all of our visitors will see the cub at this early age but they may be lucky.

February 7, 2018 - Space: The swirling cloud formations around the south pole of Jupiter, looking up toward the equatorial region. NASA's Juno spacecraft took the color-enhanced image during its eleventh close flyby of the gas giant planet on Feb. 7 at 7:11 a.m. PST (10:11 a.m. EST). At the time, the spacecraft was 74,896 miles (120,533 kilometers) from the tops of Jupiter's clouds at 84.9 degrees south latitude. To make features more visible in Jupiter's terminator - the region where day meets night - the Juno team adjusted JunoCam so that it would perform like a portrait photographer taking multiple photos at different exposures, hoping to capture one image with the intended light balance. For JunoCam to collect enough light to reveal features in Jupiter's dark twilight zone, the much brighter illuminated day-side of Jupiter becomes overexposed with the higher exposure.
