A high security storage facility for car owners and collectors to keep their prized vehicles safe has opened — and they are not even allowed inside.
High end classic models and current supercars have price tags running into millions.
Despite that many are stored in insecure, climatically unsuitable places including home garages, old barns and public car parks.
The new facility has been opened near the UK’s Gatwick Airport by start-up Birch aims to change that.
The founders are car collectors who struggled to find suitable accommodation for their valuable assets.
They discovered that world class secure storage can reduce an owner’s insurance premiums by sometimes more than the cost of the storage.
The new facility is designed to hold up to 590 cars at a cost of around €129 euros a week.
It has already become the approved storage provider for a major luxury carmaker.

Reality star Kim Kardashian has given fans a glimpse inside a massive storage facility for her old outfits.

It comes on the day her divorce to rap star Kanye West was made final and the unit contains many memories of their life together.

Kim’s visit to the massive storage building in the latest episode of The Kardashians TV series was to weed out things she no longer wants.

They include a pair of gold platform heels which she bought, before finding fame herself, after seeing ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham wearing.

Kim, 42, explained: “I saw Victoria Beckham wear them and it was to pay my rent, or to get these, and I got these, and they're mortifying.”

She also slams a real hazmat suit she got during the COVID pandemic as a “disgusting’ memory.”

Other items she shows off include a dress she wore to a 2011 concert by late rock star Prince.

The gig was at New York’s Madison Square Garden .

Prince pulled her on stage and then kicked her off when she wouldn't dance with him.

AMMUNITION BARGES SINK, JETTY WRECKED, AS DOUBLE EXPLOSION SHAKES NAVAL TOWN.
With sides caved in and roof collapsed, this building was one of those damaged when there was a double explosion at the Royal Naval Ammunition depot at Bedenham here, where 1400 tons of shells and bombs exploded. The explosion occurred on some naval ammunition barges, eight of which were lost, and on the 200 feet long loading jetty. Frantic efforts were made to drag trucks to safety from the jetty. Most of them were saved, but others exploded, blasting the end of the jetty, hurling trucks into the water, and leaving twisted rails hanging over the end.
