One of the most colourful characters of the American West, Colonel William F 'Buffalo Bill' Cody (1846-1917) was a soldier, bufffalo hunter and showman. He is best remembered for his travelling shows with Western themes which toured America and Europe in the latter decades of the 19th century, which brought him celebrity status.

American comedian, actor and film star Buster Keaton, c1930s-c1940s(?). Keaton (1895-1966) is best remembered for his silent films of the 1920s, in which he performed physical comedy with a deadpan expression, earning himself the nickname 'The Great Stone Face'. His career suffered in the 1930s as he was frustrated by the restrictions imposed on him by the Hollywood studio system, but his fortunes rebounded after he appeared live at Cirque Medrano in Paris in 1947.
