Mufasa the mountain lion having his chains cut off
Lion returned to forest after a life in the circus, Lima, Peru - 20 Nov 2015
    FULL BODY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/rkn8

Mufasa the mountain lion has spent the last 20 years chained in the back of a pick up truck of a travelling circus.

Moving between remote Peruvian villages, Mufasa went undetected despite the country's ban on wild animals in circuses. However the mountain lion, believed to be the last wild animal in a South American circus, was rescued in a dramatic raid earlier this year.

Male Celebs Who Had It And Lost It
    1166745 COM

MALE CELEBS WHO HAD IT AND LOST IT

They were the hottest celebs in the world...until age came along and snatched it all away. Damn you, time!

Once upon a time their clean cut good looks set a legion of hearts fluttering.

And while their fans are still many, these now matured leading men have very clearly left their boyhood behind.

For most the years have brought movie and music success but a number of unwanted visitors have also tagged along.

Luscious locks are now tinged with grey and a once youthful glow has given way to more rugged looks.

Meanwhile, chiseled jaws and abs have, in some cases, receded behind a little more flesh.

For some the passage of years and the transition from boy to man has more unkind than for others.

Causing some to lose their Hollywood heartthrob status along with their hair.

Six prisoners escaped from jail on Christmas Day by removing a toilet from the wall (shown here from the outside in pictures posted online) and climbing out of the hole behind it in Tennessee. The inmates wrenched off a stainless steel toilet that had vunerable rusted pipes and the bolts holding the unit had rusted out. They took their "window of opportunity" at around 1.30am Christmas morning at the Cocke County Jail Annex, east of Nashville, as there was prior damage to the concrete surrounding the unit due to plumbing repairs. Inmates John Mark Speir and Steven Edward Lewis were captured hours after the prison break. A third inmate, Eric S, Click, 29, was captured late on Monday afternoon.

Prince William preparing for take off after taking a patient to hospital
Prince William dealing with an air ambulance patient, Cambridge, Britain - 22 Mar 2016
    *Full story: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/s58v
Extraordinary pictures have been revealed showing the caring side of Prince William as he went above and beyond the call of duty at work, comforting a patient and even travelling with him in the ambulance. Photos show the Duke of Cambridge tending to and reassuring the man, who had been injured by a large tree branch, after flying him to hospital in the air ambulance yesterday afternoon (Tues). As co-pilot William is usually seen waiting in the helicopter cock-pit while his colleagues carry out the medical tasks. But this time it was the Duke who was the first to quickly jump out of the helicopter and pull the man, who was in his 30s, out on a stretcher after landing at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. He looked calm and confident as he then worked together with the paramedics to carefully move the patient, who had been injured by a tree branch at work, onto the waiting ambulance trolley.

The amazing incident was captured on dashboard camera by an officer with Kentucky's Kenton County Police Department.

A police statement reported: "Over the weekend, Officer Pittaluga encountered a large deer while driving on Decoursey Pike through Visalia. The encounter was less than cordial and ended as abruptly as it began.

"We think this video is a pretty good training video on how to react when a four-legged furry friend attempts to abruptly cross your path. Officer Pittaluga applied his brakes and steered away from the deer in a controlled manner.

Bonxie (great skua) bird flying around the sheep, trying to warn it off from the nest site
Bonxie bird protecting chicks from a sheep, Shetland Islands, Scotland - 04 Jul 2015
    BAAA-CK OFF!

Mothers can be protective, but this hapless sheep didn't know what it was getting itself into when it wandered into the nesting area of a feisty bonxie bird.

Wildlife photographer Josh Jaggard captured the scene in the Shetland Islands as the bird, also known as a great skua, got in a flap protecting her chicks.

First it flew in menacing circles around the woolly intruder before landing on its back and pulling lumps of wool from its back.

One amazing image shows the bird seeming to have a mid-air face-off with the poor creature.

The territorial bonxie then proceeded to tread all over the sheep's back before using it as a seat. Point taken, the sheep wandered off.

Josh says: "The mother was definitely not prepared to let anyone get near her chicks and she let the sheep know all about it. It was remarkable the range of techniques she employed to ward off the invader."

Owl Dare You Invade My Turf!
Feathers were well and truly ruffled when a little owl and a woodpecker came face to face in a clash over food.

The angry birds spread their wings wide as they were spotted engaging in the turf war at a nature reserve in Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire.

Wildlife photographer Ian Schofield captured the moment the pair clashed while looking for food for their young.

Ian was part of a photography group who had gone to watch the little owls and their chicks.

However, the group got more than they expected when the woodpecker swept in and the mother little owl leapt to the defence of her territory.

The fight was over quickly but Ian managed to capture the moment the feathered foes swiped at one other with their talons.

The mother owl proved triumphant, driving off the woodpecker interloper, and was able to get back to the busy job of feeding her hungry youngsters.

Osprey's Tasty Catch Of The Day
This plucky osprey shows exactly what it is made of by catching something tasty for its dinner.

In an awesome display of precision flying, the raptor swoops down upon its intended fishy target before snatching it cleanly out of the water.

After making something of a splash, the osprey then reverses its trajectory and takes off to the skies again with the fish firmly clutched in its talons.

The amazing predatorial display took place at a lake near Aviemore in the highlands of Scotland.

The stunning shots were captured by husband and wife wildlife photography duo Dave and Louise Gibbon, who needed a lot of time and patience to snap these fantastic images.

Dave comments: "We staked out a loch for more than 10 hours over two days to get these shots, sitting from 4am".

Boasting a 2m wingspan, an osprey's diet consists almost exclusively of medium-sized fish.

Due to this the birds of prey have become uniquely adapted to the challenges of catching their favourite feast.

To begin with the osprey will fly above the water's surface in order to locate a fish - gliding and soaring anything from 30ft to 100ft (9-30 metres) high.

Once it spots its prey the bird hovers momentarily before executing a near vertical, feet first plunge into the water.

This dive can send the osprey up to one metre deep beneath the surface with the unlucky fish caught tight in its talons.

To assist with their hunting strategy ospreys have closable nostrils to keep out water during dives.

They also have backwards-facing spines on their talons upon which the fish gets hooked.

Once in flight the bird will even carry the fish headfirst in order to ease wind resistance.

The Ultimate Big Breakfast: Lion Cubs Feast on Giraffe
Even pouring rain couldn't put this hungry pride of lions off their catch - an adult male giraffe.

These stunning images show the family enjoying the spoils of an unusually successful hunt in Kenya's Masai Mara.

British wildlife photographer and safari guide Paul Goldstein says he was kept awake most of the night from the noise of the lions killing then fighting over the prey.

Paul, from Wimbledon, explains: "This was an adult bull giraffe, it must have been sick or wounded otherwise this particular pride, which I have spent many months with, would never have taken him down.

"However it proved a huge larder for many days and, as it was quite cool, the meat did not go off too quickly.

"Watching the hierarchy on the dinner table was fascinating although with such a large feast the elders were not as robust as they normally are with the cubs."

Giraffes are not easy prey for lions because of their height which makes them difficult to bring down. Lions kill by grasping the throat of their prey and suffocating it, and they cannot easily reach the throat of a giraffe whilst it is standing up.

However, by working together lions can hunt and kill adult giraffes. They will often chase them onto rocky ground, where they cannot keep their balance easily, hoping to trip them up.

At other times they simply surround the giraffe and repeatedly attack it as a group until it falls, when they can seize its throat.

Giraffes also have a very powerful kick that can kill a lion so lions prefer to hunt easier prey such as antelope and zebra.
