Prince Michael of Kent at the London Coliseum with an unidentified young woman, London Britain - 22 Jul 2008
Visiting the London Coliseum last night (22nd July) to attend the premiere of Russian ballet Spartacus, Prince Michael of Kent was accompanied by a mystery blonde who was not his wife of 30 years, Princess Michael. Mysteriously, his unidentified companion went to extreme lengths to avoid being snapped by waiting photographers. As the couple exited the theatre and spotted the waiting the photographers the young woman swiftly crossed the road and walked off down the street with her head down - covering her face with her shawl as she was pursued. She then asked one of the theatre's members of security for help. Meanwhile, a mystified Prince Michael was left looking for his missing companion; at one point pulling out his phone as though he was calling her. After spotting his lady friend further down the street, a less than happy looking Prince Michael waved her over to his car, which the two then entered and departed in together - the mystery woman losing the battle to keep her face hidden in the process.

Underwater expedition finds several previously undiscovered species, Newfoundland, Canada - 02 Aug 2010

An unidentified octopus
Wonders of the Deep: New Species Among Discoveries
A very cute, purple octopus is one of the unidentified species discovered on a deep-sea expedition.
The finds came as part of a 20-day research trip off Canada's Atlantic coast which arrived back on Wednesday (28 July).
A team of 27 Canadian and Spanish researchers used a remotely operated vehicle (called ROPOS) deployed from the Canadian Coast Guard Ship Hudson to dive to the bottom of the sea.
It fed back images of fascinating habitats, ranging from terraces full of vibrant sponges and corals to sandy bottoms nearly devoid of life.
The team catalogued around 500 samples taken from parts of the Flemish Cap, the Orphan Knoll and the Sable Gully. They also believe they have discovered at least 11 potentially new species.
The farthest point of research was located about 600 kilometres east off St. John's, Newfoundland, while ROPOS worked at a maximum depth of about 9,800 feet (3,000 metres).
Kevin MacIsaac, a Bedford Institute of Oceanography taxonomist, said 30 to 40 species of coral and sponges were found, although there were several species he could not identify.
"It was kind of embarrassing," he said. "Time and time again, we were going forward and saying, 'We don't know what it is.' And, they'd say, 'What do you mean, you don't know what it is?' "
"It's been really spectacular," Ellen Kenchington, research scientist with the Fisheries Department of Canada -one of the organisations involved in the project - told Canada's CTV News.
"It's really changing our perception of the diversity that's out there. ... We're seeing new species in deeper waters."
The research trip should help scientists advise fishery managers on how to best protect the coral and sponges as new fishing methods are developed, Kench...

Amazing 'colour x-ray' style images deep sea creatures, Hawaii - 2009
Mandatory Credit: Photo by Joshua Lambus/Solent News / Rex Features ( 1309313h )
Colourful Creatures Of The Deep
This incredible set of deep sea photographs reveal some of the ocean's darkest secrets.
The stunning collection of pictures, which were taken in Hawaii, uncover in vivid detail the colourful creatures that live in the pitch-black thousands of feet underwater.
Among the 'colour x-ray' style images are pictures of rare squids, jellyfish and shrimp.
The creatures, all of which are just a few centimetres in size, are found living in complete darkness in water more than 7,000ft deep off the coast of Kailua-Kona.
Fine art photographer Joshua Lambus has been on more than 400 'blackwater' dives.
The 25-year-old had the idea after becoming frustrated with running charters for divers who just wanted to see turtles, dolphins and whales.
To get the unique images, Joshua waits until nightfall to head out about three miles on a boat. He then cuts the engine and dives into the water.
The captain kills the lights so Joshua can pick out the plankton more easily. In pure darkness he waits for something to drift by and takes its photograph.
He said: "This is a unique dive and because we live on a mountain with such a steep underwater drop off we are able to reach relatively deep water very quickly.
"I had the idea because as a dive organiser I used to get requests from people who wanted to go out to see turtles, dolphins and whales.
"I like those animals, but they have an obvious beauty, I think it's more rare an instance to notice the pattern on a spider's back, or the texture of a lizard's scales.
"After gearing up and loading the boat we head out of Honokohau Harbour at around
10pm and after we have found our spot we'll kill the engines, and began drifting.
"Then we jump in and once I find something I'll begin drifting with it and start takin...
