Hollywood heartthrob Jacob Elordi has told how his Oscar nomination for playing the monster in the movie Frankenstein is a tribute to late star Heath Ledger.

Saltburn actor Elordi, 28, is Australian just like Ledger who was also 28 when he died on January 22, 2008.

And it was on the 18th anniversary of his passing that Elordi learned he had been nominated for best supporting actor in last year’s Guilermo del Toro’s Frankenstein movie.

Asked how he felt to be nominated for an Academy Award, he said:“It
really was a dream of mine particularly because of Heath Ledger.

“He sort of showed me that it was possible.

“A fun fact is actually I remember when I first started my career I was kind of
obnoxious and I thought I was like it’s not going to happen by 28, that it's going to take much longer.

“And I'm 28 years old and I got nominated18 years to the day after he (Ledger) passed.

“So, so I'd like to take this to say thank you to Heath Ledger and for that
    inspiration.

“It really, really means the world to me.”
