A sweatshirt made famous by the late British royal Princess Diana for her daily gym workouts is being reissued to raise money for charity.

Dian was often photographed in the blue top promoting British airline Virgin Atlantic.

It featured a red swimsuited girl flying through the air holding a UK Union flag and trailing the Virgin logo.

It also sported the words, “Fly Atlantic.”

The new limited edition version will see £10 GBP / €11.50 euros from each one sold go to the airline’s  charity partner Save the Children.

The businessman Sir Richard Branson owned company said the partnership will keep “Diana’s lifelong advocacy for young people in flight.”

The first drop of  250 of the £59 GBP/€68 euros unisex garment  in adult and child sizes, has sold out but the airline teased : “There may be more to come.”

A spokesman said of Diana’s use of it in her wardrobe: “She wore it with cycling shorts and a carefree stride.

“We’ve brought that era-defining ease back. Same iconic Fly Atlantic artwork, same effortlessly cool attitude, now with a feel-good twist.

“It’s a faithful re-creation of the sweatshirt made famous by off-duty Diana, designed to be thrown on and taken everywhere — from the school run to the skies.”

They described it as “soft, comfy, and made to last.”

The future of air travel as imagines by airlines and design companies has been unveiled. The concepts that could eventually find their way into commercial aircraft include double decker rows, floating seats with hand luggage stored underneath and cabins which thanks to overhead projections, appear underwater .The designs were revealed at the Crystal Cabin Awards 2022, which asks companies to imagine the future of air travel and how it will look.

OPS: One of the entries for the Crystal Cabin Awards. The lounge-like Switch seating from France’s Style And Design Group proposes seven or eight abreast comfort for a premium economy class. It is described as a refreshing design for an airline to motivate an economy passenger to pay extra without eroding revenues from business class passengers . It offers a wide range of postures having a true impact on comfort with active seating, a dining posture and lounge position.

Hugh Caulfield: the people whose images came to define 9/11 reflect on the day. Their faces were on front pages across the world in the days after the World Trade Center collapsed. Here’s how they, and their families, look back on those terrifying hours
    9/11: 20 years later.
Hugh Caulfield was a police officer stationed in Union Square, New York City. He retired from the police in 2013 and works as a property manager. Now 53, he lives with his wife, Eileen, in Sag Harbor, New York, and has four children.
“I remember going to work and it was a picture perfect day. So I go to the locker room and I get changed and I hear on the police radio that a plane crashed into the World Trade Center.
“We jumped on the subway and were on the train with our radios screaming. It was a rush-hour train and you could see the looks on the people’s faces. They would listen to our radios and then, as we pulled into the train station and the doors opened up, you’d see the fear of people running away. It was chaos the moment we stepped off the train.
‘I looked up and saw the top 30 floors over my head, as it was peeling like a banana peel, and I thought I was dead.’
‘Things that happen in my day sometimes remind me: hearing a noise, or a smell – especially a smell.’

FEATURE - Easyjet Flug vorbei vor dem Mond

Photographer Ross Harwood captured these stunning, currently rare, images of an Easyjet flight passing in front of the moon on Sunday (21 March).

The 45-year-old, from Sandbach, Cheshire, explains: “The pictures show easyJet fight EZY261 operating from London Stansted to Belfast Aldergrove on Sunday at 1715. The aircraft was at 32,000ft.

“I’ve held a keen interest in photography and aviation for many years and since upgrading my camera equipment in 2019 I have enjoyed the challenge of getting aircraft crossing the moon. If I see the moon in the afternoon sky I know roughly where aircraft may cross it using apps such as Flightradar. I must admit it is around 99% unsuccessful, particularly when there are fewer flights right now! These photographs are taken with a 600mm lens.”
